Why should we use a humidity data logger

The humidity wireless data logger can be used to monitor the humidity and the temperature from a  building or from any other space. The humidity data logger can be used to monitor the humidity from :

  • refrigerated trucks and containers;
  • museums, libraries, archives and art galleries;
  • greenhouses;
  • food or pharmaceutical transports;
  • aircraft cabins.

Humidity is a real problem because it can create major environmental issues. When we are speaking about problems which are related to humidity we should understand that it is not only about the thermal comfort, but also about the quality of the air we breathe. High humidity in indoor air usually means that air has  a high concentration of microbial organisms. High humidity can also affect the performance of the equipments from the building. What we should know is that high humidity usually causes mould and the two of them may affect our health. Humidity does not affect our health immediately and this is why we should always try to control the humidity from our house.  But, we should also know that very low humidity is not good at all too, because it can create a dusty atmosphere.

We usually notice that there is a very high humidity in our house only after the materials have become detached - the paint from the walls is peeling or is bubbling, after certain surfaces have changed their color ( like the parquet floor ). It is essential to know that we could avoid all these unhealthy things only by buying a humidity data logger which can monitor the humidity from our house.

The humidity data logger can store up to 8000 humidity readings which can be transferred to the PC. The humidity data logger has fixed humidity transmitters which measure relative humidity, temperature, water activity, dew point and some other parameters and can offer the first results within a few minutes. The humidity data logger records all the values in its unit which combines a microprocessor, a clock, power supply, a sensor and memory. The data loggers usually have a big display panel, they have a lithium battery and they work if they are connected to a PC: so, if you want to programme your humidity data logger, you have to connect it to your personal computer by using a USB cable and after that you can access its software.

Usually, the humidity data loggers use a capacitive relative - humidity sensor technology and a proven thermistor in order to be able to provide reliable and accurate readings.

Some humidity data loggers have an optical alarm, meaning that they can be programmed to signal the optical alarm whenever the measured value for the relative humidity overcomes the upper or lower limit values. When this happens, the word “Alarm” appears on the display panel.

A humidity data logger is quite necessary in one’s house because, as we said before, humidity is a factor which can really affect our health. Before buying a humidity data logger you should study the market and try to find the best one. Usually, the main features that a humidity data logger should have are:

  • monitoring temperature and relative humidity
  • storing from 8.000 to 16.000 temperature and humidity readings
  • displaying and optical alarm if the maximum/minimum values are exceeded
  • showing the memory and battery status on the display.

If the humidity data logger that you find has all these features, then you should choose it. Check http://www.temperaturedataloggers.org/ for more info.
